The U.S. Men’s National Team nearly escaped the hostile atmosphere of Estadio Ricardo Saprissa with a point during this FIFA World Cup Qualifier in 2000. Earnie Stewart’s second half goal leveled the score before a late penalty kick from Hernan Medford gave Los Ticos all three points and sent the home crowd into raptures in San Jose.
